Tyldesley 16 Liverpool 7
TYLDESLEY Ladies secured their place in the British Water Polo League Championship One for the first time with a win over Liverpool on Saturday.
Tyldesley started in impressive form with a quick goal from Grace Morley after one minute before the promotion chasers pushed on to gain a 6-1 lead in the first quarter.
Liverpool fought back, tying the second quarter, but the hosts' attacking flair saw them increase the advantage in the third.
A six-goal stint from Morley as well as goals from Lucy Aspinall, five, Jo Costello, three, and Nicola Holt, two, secured promotion.
The celebrations were short-lived however as Tyldsley were beaten 9-2 by London side Penguin on Sunday.
League-leaders Penguin controlled the game and went 2-0 in the first quarter.
Morley got one back for Tyldsley but Penguin soon went 7-1 ahead.
A long-range goal from Megan Price in the last quarter proved to be no more than a consolation with Tyldsley well beaten by the table toppers.
