LANCASHIRE’S NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day triumph topped off a fabulous personal week for Leigh star Karl Brown.
On successive Saturdays, the Bolton batsman ended his long wait for an LV= County Championship century before contributing to Lancashire’s first ever Twenty20 title at Edgbaston.
Sandwich in between, the ex-Atherton star signed a new three-year contract to remain at Emirates Old Trafford until the end of 2018.
Lancashire beat Hampshire by six wickets in a low-scoring semi-final on Saturday afternoon as they chased down 115 with seven balls to spare.
Brown top-scored with a measured 45 not out off 43 balls on an ageing surface ideally suited to the spin of former Radcliffe junior Stephen Parry, who excelled for 3-21.
The Lightning then beat Northamptonshire in a pulsating evening final as they defended their 166-7 to win by 13 runs and give cricket director and head coach Ashley Giles a trophy in his first season with the club.
Opener Alex Davies top-scored with 47 before James Faulkner battled through suffering a dislocated finger to return 2-25 from four overs.
It was also a memorable day for 21-year-old debutant seamer Gavin Griffiths, who came in for the injured Kyle Jarvis to bowl a maiden with his first over against Hampshire and bowl two of the last three overs in the final, taking 2-23 from three.
