EIGHTY-SEVEN children from 12 primary schools in Atherton and Tyldesley take part in the Atherton and Tyldesley Sports Association Year 5/6 Dodgeball festival which took place at Atherton Community School.

St George's Central, Garrett Hall, St Philip's, St Stephen's, St Michael's, Holy Family, Parklee, Atherton St George's, St Richard's, St John's, Tyldesley Primary and Hindsford all brought teams of children to take part in the event which was facilitated by ATSA.

The schools were divided into two groups with the top two teams from each group meeting in a semi final match.

Eventually the finalists were decided and it was the children from St Michael's who met St Richard's.

Both schools played their part in a tense final match, however congratulations went to the children from St. Michael's who edged the final, winning this event for the second year in a row.

Mark Grogan, lead teacher for ATSA, said: "I would like to thank Matt Bold from Atherton Community School for organising this event and allowing us to use their facilities to host this competition.

"Thanks also should go to Laura Williams and all the PE staff who helped to officiate at the festival. A mention also to the many supporters who came to event to help create a fantastic atmosphere."
