INJURY has ended the playing career of Leigh Centurions forward Tim Jonkers.
The ex-St Helens, Salford and Irish international is to retire immediately on medical grounds.
The 2000 Super League Grand Final and World Club Challenge winner joined the Centurions from Salford in 2006. In his first training session with the club, Tim picked up an injury that kept him out for the rest of the season.
Jonkers made a comeback and has featured in eight of the Centurions' opening games of the season.
But further injuries to his knee and elbow have prompted an early retirement.
