JOHN Duffy believes the feelgood factor is returning to Leigh Centurions and has issued a pre-Christmas rallying cry to the town.

Early bird season tickets are now on sale and Duffy is urging fans to get behind his new look squad.

Supporters have until December 21 to snap up early bird offers.

Orders taken before the cut-off date are guaranteed three free games in one go.

“Everyone I have spoken in the town has been really positive,” said Duffy, relishing the challenge of turning Leigh into a Betfred Championship force in 2019.

“:I know it’s tough around Christmas, getting presents for your kids and families,” he told Journal Sport.

“For the club to get the season ticket sales out so quickly after the dark times we have had over the last few months is superb.

“So, I really want the town to get behind this team because the lads are local who want to play for Leigh.

“The fans and the players can create something special and do something special with our league performances.

“Everyone is really positive again. There seems to be a buzz back through the town.

“Hopefully, we can get the North stand rocking again. Some of these local lads who have not experienced what it is like when you run out in front of those supporters, it will take them back because it is a special feeling.”

Centurions have yet to confirm their pre-season fixtures and Duffy is still contemplating who to name as captain for 2019.

But the players are now in the thick of pre-season training including dreaded hill sessions at Rivington Pike and Haigh Hall.

“These Saturday hill sessions are real knee-tremblers,” laughed Duffy.

“But the lads have been really good and enthusiastic. There has been no moaning.

“And from these runs you start to see your leadership group emerge. You see who stands up in these sessions when the going gets tough So, I’ll probably pick the captain after Christmas.”

After confirming Hilltop Products Limited as shirt sponsor for 2019, the club has announced more backers.

Ascot Services, Zaun Group, Impact Insurance, Leisure Resorts and 24/7 have all come on board as various kit sponsors.

Centurions commercial director Jason Huyton said: “Having previously been sponsors of the shorts along with backing the club during my time as a director, Ascot have once again stepped up to the plate and delivered outstanding support to the Centurions.”
