JACK Hughes has been appointed as co-captain of Warrington Wolves.

The club have confirmed the second rower will lead the team alongside existing skipper Chris Hill in 2019.

Kevin Brown will remain in his role as vice-captain.

Hughes captained the England Knights team on their tour of Papua New Guinea last year and signed a new three-year deal with The Wire before Christmas.

Head coach Steve Price says he could think of no better person to join Hill and Brown in the leadership group.

“We feel it’s our best fit going forward," he said.

With Chris not playing a full 80 minutes and Kev being the current vice-captain and doing a really good job looking after all our attacking structures, I felt that we needed a player who could support Chris in that role.

As a stand-out performer in our pre-season, epitomising our standards and what we are trying to drive here at the club, there’s no better person than Jack Hughes to complement Chris and Kev.”
