Proud Geordie boy Dan Burn wants to celebrate Shearer-style at St James’ Park.

And he would love that to be after scoring for Albion against his beloved Newcastle United.

The Seagulls defender was brought up in the North East as a Toon fan and will have family and friends among the home support.

But he aims to silence the Toon Army while helping his current club to a first win since the opening day of the season.

If he could open his Albion account, that would make it even better.

Burn supported Newcastle from the East Stand during their Champions League days and played for them as a schoolboy.

Toon stars from that time include local boy Alan Shearer, whose trademark goal celebrations would see him run away with one arm raised.

The Argus:

Asked about netting against Newcastle, Burn said: “I would celebrate – 100%, definitely.

“I played a couple of years ago for Wigan against Newcastle.

“I had a header and I should have scored but I was already celebrating in my head, doing the Shearer celebration.

“Yes, I will celebrate. I don’t score many, so if I play and score, I’ll celebrate, don’t worry.”

Burn is under no illusions as to the importance of a contest in which Andy Carroll could make his second Toon debut.

And that would mean upsetting a few locals if all goes to plan for the Seagulls.

He said: “It will be strange, looking up to where I used to sit and I’ll be on the pitch.

“It will be a nice moment for me and my family but I am there to do a job and we want the three points.”
