THE stars were due to come out for the inaugural Wilmslow Foursomes.

European Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood was due to be among the players to descend on Wilmslow Golf Club for the four-day tournament starting on Monday.

However, the coronavirus outbreak has forced the event to be postponed.

Other professional players due to take part included European Tour regulars Jamie Donaldson and David Horsey as well as Charley Hull – one of the top players in the women’s game.

The event was also open to the top male and female amateurs and had received more than 70 applications to be one of the 64 pairs invited to take part.

Mindful that the quality of the field may have attracted a crowd in excess of 500 spectators, Wilmslow Golf Club said they had little option but to postpone.

They will look to rearrange the tournament for later in the year.
