ATHERTON Collieries are proud to today confirm that Josh Solomon-Davies has been called up to the Saint Lucian National Team for their upcoming Nations League fixtures against Sint Maarten and Saint Kitts & Nevis.

Josh, 23, has previously represented Saint Lucia on two occasions, having been born in the capital city of Castries before moving to England at the age of six.

The attacking wing-back has made a flying start to life in the Black & White, notching two goals so far across his four appearances, including vital late goals against Basford and Guisborough.

Saint Lucia are an Eastern Caribbean nation who compete as members of CONCACAF, the continental governing body for North American, Central American and Caribbean football, and share a Nations League group with Guadalope, Saint Kitts & Nevis and Sint Maarten.

Over the course of this seasons competition, they will be playing for promotion into the top division of the CONCACAF Nations League, where they could face the likes of the United States, Trinidad & Tobago, Canada or Costa Rica.

With this international call, Josh enters the history books in becoming the first player to receive a senior international football call-up whilst representing Atherton.

Everybody at the club is proud to congratulate Josh on his achievement, and we all look forward to following this week’s proceedings.
