TYLDESLEY under 14s won the Lancashire Cup after beating Warrington 31-15 in the final at Leigh.
Tyldesley went into the final with an unbeaten record for the season having won all 20 games and having already won the SCI Skegness tournament a few weeks earlier.
Tyldesley started quickly and confidently and their speed of play and dominance at the break downs soon paid off with wing David Kurlovic and Finn Davies giving them a 10-0 lead.
Warrington pulled one back, but then Finn Grant and Finn Davies combined for a long-range try. Warrington pulled it back to 17-10 at half time but Tyldesley took control in the second half with tries from Austin Townsend and Alex Higham.
When the latter raced through to score under the posts it sent the hundreds of Tyldesley supporters wild in celebration and seal the game, 31-10.
Warrington got a consolation try but Tyldesley had won the Lancashire Cup for the first time in more than 100 years to write their names in the club’s history.
