THERE was no world record, but Atherton’s Keely Hodgkinson nevertheless returned to winning ways at the London Diamond League on Saturday after a difficult couple of weeks.
The 24-year-old had targeted the long-standing women's 800m world record at the London event – after doing so indoors in the winter.

Although fellow Team GB teammate Josh Kerr did manage to smash the world mile record in the capital, there was no such feat for Hodgkinson.
The 800m Olympic champion has endured mixed fortunes in recent weeks – twice being beaten into second place in the Diamond League events at Stockholm, where she improved her British record.

Her subsequent runner’s up spot at Eugene was hindered by a bad fall approaching the event.
She defeated Femke Broeders-Bol of the Netherlands, clocking 1min.56.21 seconds in front of 60,000 at London Stadium.
Afterwards she told BBC Sport: “Mixed emotions - but I think I'm going to take the positives that it's been a tough couple of weeks, not everything always your way and goes to plan.
“The only reason I came here today was because I wanted to run in front of a home crowd, so I'm happy to get that out the way, go to the European Championships next and we just build on from here.”

On her tough summer so far she added: “Life is sometimes unfair and doesn't go the way you want or how you imagined it.
“It's how you deal with it. I still dream big but for now, I'm just going to stay in the present.”
