LEIGH’S viictory over Batley Bulldogs was a noteable one.

It moved Leigh three points clear at the top of the Championship, it included Steve Nash’s return from injury, it heralded the return of dual registration player Matty Blythe and marked a wonderful milestone for Mick Nanyn.

Nash scored the final try, Warrington Wolves shared player Blythe bagged the first one after only four minutes to put Leigh on their way, while Nanyn’s third of four successful conversions confirmed his place in rugby league’s all-time top 10 points scorers with his career haul of 3,282 so far.

Leigh were never behind and had the game sewn up by half time at 18-0.

Batley did produce a second-half comeback at 24-12 but Anthony Nicholson’s score from a Jamie Ellis kick ensured there were no doubts.

Evergreen Stuart Donlan crossed for Leigh’s other two tries, while Martyn Ridyard banged over two conversions after Nanyn limped off with an injury.

Batley’s try scorers were Wayne Reittie and Daley Williams, while Paul Handforth slotted both conversions.
