POWERHOUSE second row Joe Wardle gave a glimpse of what he will bring to Leigh Centurions this year when he ripped through the St Helens defence in Friday's Alex Walmsley testimonial game.
There was no stopping him when he took a short ball, first brushing off the tackle of Tongan World Cup centre Konrad Hurrell before powering through the tackle of youngster Jon Bennison to open Leigh's account and delight the noisy contingent of travelling support.
The vastly experienced Scottish international, who had a long career in Super League with two stints at Huddersfield Giants, a spell at Castleford Tigers plus a year with Newcastle Knights in the NRL, will give Leigh some real potency on the edge to menace Championship defences.
Richard Walker captured the sequence of the try.
