NOW that construction is well under way with the guided busway, I feel it time to reflect on how we will be affected on its completion.
I believe that one of the three lanes heading in to Manchester will be dedicated to the busway from Swinton to Salford.
Does this mean that the two lanes merging from the motorway, yes two for anyone who travels this on a daily basis, will be merging onto one less lane?
Thus increasing the time it takes for all the people who need to travel by car, and people who travel via the East Lancs to Manchester and don’t live in Leigh.
Has any research been carried out to the feasibility of the scheme and how many people in Leigh this will benefit?
What will be the impact on the surrounding roads with the increased traffic lights?
Could it be that land around where the guided section will be going could be placed at threat from future development. Another potential legacy of this costly project.
