IN a recent letter in the Journal Christine Trendall asked why green bins weren’t emptied over Christmas and New Year.
Like thousands of others my green bin went out and wasn’t emptied.
I went on Wigan Council’s website to report it as a missed collection and got a message back saying it would be reported.
I then got a message saying the green bin service would resume its normal schedule on Monday, January 9.
Being rather annoyed at not being able to talk to anyone, I reported it as damaged, needing a new one and the damaged one emptying.
Only then did someone get in touch.
I was informed that the council had put something about the suspension of the collections on its website and Facebook page.
I don’t know how many regular internet users the council thinks are in the borough.
Obviously not everyone regularly goes online.
Apparently it was also in Borough Life. I thought that was a defunct publication as none have been delivered to me in more than two years.
As far as I am concerned this all shows that we are starting another year with incompetent administration by the council.
