A MAN threatened to stab his mother before turning a knife on himself a Bolton Crown Court heard.
Kealan Coady, aged 28, was given a six month sentence, suspended for two years, after he pleaded guilty to affray.
Police were called to his mother’s address in Bolton, on December 9, 2016, after they received a “confused 999 call.”
Prosecuting Robert Golinski said: “The call included a threat by the defendant to stab his mother.”
Police arrived at Coady’s mother’s home in the early hours of the morning.
Mr Golinski added: “The mother was reluctant to allow them to enter, then did allow them entry but assured the police that the defendant wasn’t armed.”
However when police entered the living room of the property they found Coady armed with a kitchen knife.
Golinski said: “He was bouncing up and down with the knife while two officers made attempts to get him to put the knife down.
“Then he raised the knife to his own neck before dropping it.”
Police arrested Coady, of Walmsley Road, in Bury, at the scene and he was taken into custody.
The court heard that in a police interview Coady said the 999 call was a “cry for help” and that he had been “experiencing a psychotic and suicidal episode.”
