HOLIDAYS are coming to St Helens – and to prove it the famous Coca-Cola truck is again heading to town.

The bright lights of the famous red truck will be stopping at Tesco Extra in St Helens on Friday, December 1, from 11am to 7pm.

The festive truck is also visiting Liverpool and Manchester but will not go to neighbouring Warrington or Widnes.

The truck has made 397 stops since 2011, travelling 730,000 miles.

It is lit by 372 bulbs and 8,772 fairy lights to give it a special Christmas sparkle.

Cllr Barrie Grunewald, leader of St Helens Council, said: “Given the overall positive public reaction to the truck visiting St Helens for the first time last year – which drew hundreds of families into town to enjoy the festive atmosphere – I welcome the announcement that this attraction is to return once more.

“This is a once-a-year event which a lot of people up and down the country get enjoyment and happiness out of to mark the countdown to the festive period.”

Last year’s event caused traffic disruption on the St Helens Linkway.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys ahead and use alternative routes to avoid traffic delays and prevent congestion when the truck is in town.

Notices will be displayed on variable message signs to warn motorists of potential delays.
