ENVIRONMENTALLY conscious volunteers rolled up their sleeves and joined a community tidy up in Sale Moor earlier this week.

The initiative was organised as part of the Keep Britain Tidy charity’s Love Where You Live scheme, and saw around 70 people, including 40 school children from St Margaret's, The Firs and Woodheys primary schools, getting stuck in.

As well as collecting 30 bin bags of litter, the team planted spring flowering bulbs, and helped spruce up trees and hedges bordering the town’s pathways.

Equipment was provided by the Council's Community Safety Team and Irwell Valley Housing Association and the litter collected by Trafford's Groundforce team.

Executive Councillor John Reilly said: "I’m delighted so many people turned up to help out with the Love Where You Live event and would like to thank them for working so hard during the time they were out, especially in the wet weather."
