POLICE are warning residents of Leigh, Tyldesley and Atherton to make sure their homes are not an easy target for burglars.

As the nights are lighter and weather gets warmer there is a temptation to open windows and doors to let in air.

Burglars often look for insecure windows and doors they can sneak into so police urge people to remember to lock up.

Light timers should still be used to give the impression that your home is occupied during the night time.

You can get in touch with the neighhbourhoold team by phone or email or by going along to a community meeting or surgery.

Or stop and have a chat with your local officer when they are out and about in the area.

Contact the team on 0161 856 7225 or email wiganeast@gmp.police.uk.
