LEIGH Pulling Power armwrestlers are celebrating yet again and are proof that the left arm does know what the right is doing!

In the British championships at Garstang 21 year-old Hayley Dickenson won the open ladies class on the right arm and placed second on the left. Her 41 year-old Pulling Power clubmate Agy Gorzynska got first on the left and second on the right.

Although they qualified for the world championships in Poland they don’t have the funds to compete there.

“They are at the top of their sport now and hopefully will attract more sponsorship for next year,” said Hayley’s dad and club coach Stan Dickenson, aged 54.

“We are hoping to get more ladies to join the club as its not just a man’s sport,”

“We have proven that we have the best ladies in the UK. You don't need to be big to armwrestle, it’s all to do with techniques and we can show people how. We are very grateful to FreshStart for sponsoring Leigh Pulling Power to enter the British.”

Stan was also well up in the British championship results again with a fourth and a fifth in a highly competitive men’s 100kg section featuring multiple British and former world champions.

Leigh Pulling Power founder member Paul Maiden, who now runs Leigh Elite armwrestling club, sponsored by Powerbeck, won on both right and left in the 100kg. With Barry Knowles winning on both arms in the 65kg class the town can now boast four British champions.
