A SCHOOL is celebrating after it was awarded full marks in part of its recent ofsted inspection.

Pupils at Gilded Hollins Community Primary School in Lowton have been rated top of the class for their outstanding behaviour, with the school also receiving full marks for the behaviour and safety of pupils and a good rating overall.

The school impressed inspectors with the clear policies followed by pupils and staff, the strong pastoral care provided for pupils and their families and the 'outstanding' work to keep pupils safe and secure.

Head teacher Darran Nash said: "We are delighted with Ofsted's findings. To secure so many outstanding features under the most rigorous inspection framework yet is a great achievement.

"Our school ethos is 'respect everyone' and that really shone through during the inspection. We have a real sense of teamwork here between pupils, parents, staff, governors and the community."

Inspectors visited the school in January. The report said: "The school has well-established and very clear expectations which staff apply and with which pupils fully comply.

"The behaviour of pupils is outstanding, and school's work to keep pupils safe and secure is outstanding.

"This has a very positive effect on pupils' good achievement."

Leadership of senior leaders and governors and the support from parents were also praised.
