A TRANSFORMATION has taken place on St Helens Road in Leigh.
Leigh 4 Life has converted a space previously used as a youth club into a community cafe called Bridgewaters which is being run by volunteers.
It is currently open, serving coffee, cake, tea and toast but it would like to begin holding events such as open-mic nights, reading clubs and youth groups.
Volunteer Amber Burgess said: “We want Bridgewaters to be a place where the people of Pennington can come and know that not only can they have simple but tasty food and drink here but will also see a friendly face.
“While it previously opened as a youth club, the cafe will be open to all. We’ve had people coming in with laptops to do work, elderly people for a cup of tea and chat and parents with their young children.”
The cafe is open Wednesdays to Fridays every week, from 11am to 4pm.
