RETAILERS have been recognised for their commitment in preventing under age sales of products such as alcohol.
The Responsible Retailer Awards – run by Wigan Council’s Trading Standards and Licensing Section – presented 15 shops with certificates for their efforts at Leigh Sports Village On Monday.
Julie Middlehurst, service manager for trading standards and licensing, said: “It is really important that businesses who sell alcohol, cigarettes, fireworks don’t allow any sales to people under 18, as they are breaking the law and face serious consequences.”
