Cyclist heads out on the road again for Hindley hopsice

Leigh Journal: Royston Brett Royston Brett

THE open road is beckoning again for charity cyclist Royston Brett.

Last year, Royston, of Everest Road in Atherton, cycled from Manchester to London in aid of Jade’s Campaign, set up after 14-year-old Jade Lomas-Anderson was killed by dogs.

This time the 42-year-old will complete the Manchester to Blackpool ride on July 13 along with hundreds of others before he sets out alone to Southport and then across to Hornsea in Yorkshire and back.

He has been sponsored by In2-Signs in Leigh and hopes to complete 530 miles in just four days.

“It is a long way but I am used to spending long periods of time in the saddle,” he said.

“This time I am raising money and awareness for Wigan and Leigh Hospice in memory of Jan Henderson who sadly passed away there last month and Wipe Your Tears who help the families of terminally ill children.”
