ANIMAL lover Annabel Stevens has raised over £50 for the RSPCA with a baking extravaganza.

The 10-year-old St Phillips pupil, from Atherton, baked 80 cupcakes and two large chocolate cakes, which she sold for 40p and 60p a slice at school, raising £52.74 to give to the RSPCA charity.

Annabel, who is in Year 6, said: "I’ve been wanting to do this for a while because I have always loved animals, especially dogs, and not many people donate to animals they always chose other charities.

"I really like baking and every year when it is my birthday we bake a cake instead of buying one and I do it with my friends as well.

"I made vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with different types of icing and sold them in one of the classrooms at school.

"The next day my friends came up to me and told me they were really good.

"I really enjoyed baking it but it took a lot of time but I am thinking of doing it again because last year I sold bracelets to raise money for the guide dogs and I raised £12 so I want to try and beat that next time and give more to them."

Mum Emma, 38 from Atherton said: "She is always coming up with ideas for charity. It's amazing because she comes up with them all on her own and never wants any help.

"I think we have got a bit of an entrepreneur on our hands."
