AN Atherton man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman died in a collision in Bolton.

Tinashe Irvine Chikoto, 22, of Devonshire Road, Atherton has been charged with six offences; causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, failing to report a collision, causing death whilst unlicensed, driving a motor vehicle without insurance, driving whilst unfit through drugs and perverting the course of justice.

At 10pm on January 31, a woman crossed over Bow Street at the junction of Crown Street when she fell over.

A short time later, a bus and two vehicles are seen on CCTV slowing down and driving around her.

There was a short break in traffic before another car, a Ford Focus, collided with her.

The car pulled up on Back Bridge Street and the driver abandoned the vehicle and contacted police later that night.

Chikoto has been remanded into custody to appear before Bolton Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police have not yet formally identified the woman.
