TWO men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping after a man was allegedly bundled into a car in Leigh and driven away last night, Wednesday.
Police had issued an appeal for the man to get in touch, promising that his safety was their 'priority', but he has now been found safe and well at his home.
The 22-year-old man, 26-year-old man and 22-year-old woman arrested remain in police custody for questioning.
Police say they headed to Twist Lane, Leigh, at around 8.30pm following reports of a man being forced into an orange Ford Focus that drove off towards Atherton.
Detective inspector Paul Rollinson, of Greater Manchester Police’s Wigan borough division, said: “I understand that an incident like this will cause concern in the community.
“I want to reassure the public that we believe this to be a targeted attack that poses no threat to the wider community and we have stepped up patrols in the area.
“We have already made three arrests in connection with this incident but our investigation continues."
Police are appealing for witnesses to the alleged kidnapping to come forward.
Det insp Rollinson added: “This happened on a busy road while lots of people were around, so somebody must have seen something.
“We would urge anybody who saw a vehicle matching this description, or anything that can help our investigation, to contact us."
Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 2252 of August 17, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
