THIS week we take a look back at a 1960s picture of the Ring O'Bells pub in Leigh.
It was taken by Watson Raynor.
The pub was built by its first landlord, George Tickle, in 1861.
It was demolished in the 1980s after suffering structural damage caused by the pub's lack of foundations.
In 1891 John Lowe married George's granddaughter and took over the licence.
John's son Alfred married Ruth Spedding and they ran the pub together until his death in the early 1960s.
Ruth continued to run the pub until 1969.
Former miner George Robinson then took over the reins and hand pumps were installed at the pub in the 1970s.
If you have a photograph you would like us to use in Look Back at Leigh send it to newsdesk@ leighjournal.co.uk with your name, address and a daytime telephone number, plus details of when the picture was taken and what it shows.
