SCOUTS groups in the borough are invited to take part in a newly-launched national competition to design a dream hut and have it built.
Building Futures, a collaboration between the Shanly Foundation and the UK Scouts Association, will give £100,000 for the best design of a fantasy 21st century meeting place for Scouts to be turned into a reality for the winning group.
There are five runners up prizes of £10,000 to carry out repairs on dilapidated huts and a further six prizes of £5,000 will be given to help groups kit out their meeting place with equipment for activities.
The deadline for entries is December 16.
For more information about the competition, which is being backed by TV adventurer Bear Grylls, and to download an application form visit scouts.org.uk/shanly-foundation.
