A BIRD of prey owner is appealing for residents to help him find a missing falcon.
Wayne Wriggs could not stop the gyrfalcon crossed with a peregrine fly away from his garden in Cranworth Avenue, Astley, after a swivel cable broke at around 5.30pm yesterday, Thursday.
There have been reported sightings of the bird at Jubilee Park in Ashton-in-Makerfield last night and Higher Folds in Leigh today.
Wayne is willing to reward anyone who catches the bird and returns it to him.
He said: "I have only had him a few months and called him Jock after buying him from a man in Scotland.
"When he saw me last night he pulled at the leash, which subsequently snapped, and flew onto the fence.
“He was then spooked by a dog barking and flew away.
"It is illegal for anybody to keep him without paperwork, but if anybody does find him I am offering a reward for his safe return."
If you see or capture the bird contact Wayne on 07809 210778.
