A SPORTS club is hoping its tennis open day organised in a bid to attract new members will be a smash hit.

Leigh Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club is inviting people of all ages and standards to take part on Saturday, May 13.

Refreshments and all equipment will be provided, though you can bring your own racket if you prefer, and the free tennis open day will be held from 1pm to 4pm at the Beech Walk club.

Discounts will be given to people who join the club on the day.

A tennis coaching programme will begin at the club for people of all ages the following week.

This will be led by Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) coach James Moores.

These Saturday sessions will be in addition to the club's existing midweek coaching programme operated by its other LTA coach Nicky Butler.

The Saturday sessions cost £4 for under 12s and £5 for anyone over the age of 12, with all equipment again being provided.

The club boasts six floodlit Astroturf tennis courts, an all-weather tennis court and a newly refurbished clubhouse.

Anyone interested in attending the open day or the coaching sessions should register their interest by e-mailing leighcctennis@gmail.com or calling 07585 303897.
