A MAN has been given a six-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months after persistently failing to adhere to a community order.
Gareth Chapman, of Leigh Road, Atherton, was handed the order in 2013 for assaulting a police constable in the execution of his duty.
The 32-year-old was sentenced for his latest breaches at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
On top of the suspended prison sentence Chapman was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
Anthony Cleworth, of North Avenue, Crankwood, Leigh, was conditionally discharged for 12 months after spitting at a woman and giving her verbal abuse.
The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to a harassment charge.
He was handed a restraining order from magistrates and has to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
