A SINGER-songwriter who produced her debut album 30 years after first showing an interest in music is attracting attention from across the globe.

Corrie Shelley, of Bag Lane, Atherton, released folk music album Painted Memories in January and has since received air time on radio stations on the other side of the Atlantic, including in America and Hawaii.

It took the mum-of-one 12 months to record the eight-track album.

Corrie, 45, said: “I have been interested in songwriting from an early age but I did not pursue getting into the music industry after school as much as maybe I should have done.

“I went on a songwriting course a few years ago and after that I decided I would have another go at making some of my own tracks.

“I thought it would just be an expensive hobby but friends and family said I should send my stuff off to radio stations and I have been amazed by the response.

"Stations in Hawaii, Canada and north east America are playing my music, which is hard for me to believe.

“Everyone has said they like it and want to hear more of my music."

Corrie, who works as an office manager for an adult acting school, is now concentrating on putting the finishing touches to her second album.

She has just two tracks to complete.

Corrie also has a performance at Whitaker Park's Rawtenstall Annual Fair on Sunday, July 9, to look forward to.

She has other festival performances in the pipeline as well and regularly sings at open mic nights.
