RADIO presenter and comedian Shaun Keaveny is one of the 96 stars named as being paid more than £150,000 by the BBC.

The 45-year-old, from Leigh, presents the breakfast show on digital radio station BBC Radio 6 Music.

He has made numerous television appearances, including controversially appearing as himself in an episode of The Bill in 2005 and performing alongside fellow stand-up comedians Hal Cruttenden and Mark Dolan as a member of Destiny’s Dad in the fifth series of Let's Dance and Sing for Comic Relief.

His annual salary of between £150,000 and £199,999 was announced in the corporation's annual report as this is a requirement under the BBC's new Royal Charter.

It shows Chris Evans as the highest paid star at the BBC.

The BBC Radio 2 breakfast show host made between £2.2 million and £2.25 million in 2016 to 2017.

His pay is understood to include a portion of his earnings from his time on Top Gear.

Claudia Winkleman is the BBC's highest paid female celebrity, earning between £450,000 and £500,000.

It is the first time BBC salary information has been made public.

But the figures only refer to the amount of licence fee money each person receives.

They do not include their earnings from other broadcasters or commercial activities.

Combined, the earnings of the 96 stars who earn more than £150,000 total almost £30 million.
