WESTLEIGH Lane in Leigh has been found to be the borough’s worst road for potholes.
Like in 2013 to 2014, more complaints were made regarding damage to the surface of Westleigh Lane in 2015 to 2016 than any other road in the Wigan borough.
The annual study of the condition of Greater Manchester’s road network by the Federation of Small Businesses also found the borough to have the second biggest increase in complaints from the previous year.
A total of 1,616 complaints were made about road damage in the borough in 2015 to 2016, up from 657.
The number of legal claims made for vehicle damage as a result of potholes and damaged roads and pavements in the borough also shot up, from 28 to 61.
Now in its third year, the figures are compiled using Freedom of Information requests at all 10 councils in Greater Manchester.
They reveal Salford to be the best performing authority, with the fewest complaints concerning potholes as well as fewest legal claims for damage to motor vehicles in 2015 to 2016.
