A FAMOUS dog rescuer made an appearance at a greyhound charity's centre on Tuesday.

Australian author and pet photographer Calley Gibson, who became well-known through social media due to her relationship with her rescue dog Pikelet, visited Makants Greyhound Rescue North West in Tyldesley.

Calley, who has fostered dogs from different breeds including greyhounds, spent two hours talking to staff at the Mort Lane centre.

She presented a copy of her new book, The Extraordinary Life of Pikelet, which was ‘pawtographed’ by the star of the story.

Calley is currently on holiday in the UK but is going to as many animal rescue centres as possible at the same time.

As well as taking photographs of the kennel dogs, she treated them to Kangaroo snacks which were enjoyed by all the pooches.

Makants volunteer Patricia also made a knitted greyhound keepsake for Calley to take home with her.
