A PROLIFIC shoplifter has been jailed for 10 weeks after ‘flagrantly disregarding’ a criminal behaviour order.

Derek McLagan, of Selwyn Street, Leigh, admitted breaching the order by entering the Sainsbury's supermarket at Parsonage Retail Park in the town on July 27.

The 43-year-old appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Magistrates took into account his ‘appalling record’ and ‘flagrant disregard’ for the order imposed by Liverpool Crown Court on October 24 in giving McLagan a custodial sentence.

He also has to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Nathan Fitton, of Lowther Drive, Leigh, was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work after admitting assaulting a male.

The 22-year-old committed the offence in Wigan on February 20.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to show up in court on June 29 having been released on bail.

On top of the community service Fitton has to adhere to a rehabilitation activity requirement and pay £50 compensation, an £85 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
