Multi-vehicle East Lancs crash causing delays
THERE have been major delays this morning after a multi-vehicle crash on the East Lancashire Road.
The incident took place this morning on the A580 East Lancashire Road, eastbound between Haydock Island and Golborne Roundabout.
Highways England coned off lanes in an effort to keep traffic moving, but heavy congestion was expected.
Highway resurfacing works on A58 Blackbrook Road and Park Road were also causing delays.
Motorists were strongly advised to avoid both areas.
A council spokesman said: "The East Lancs incident has now been resolved, and traffic is returning to normal."
