A HOST of displays will take place over the weekend to mark the Bonfire Night celebrations.

Leigh

Leigh RUFC are hosting their annual event at its Hand Lane home on Saturday from 5.30pm with a Bonfire and fireworks set off on the night as well as a range of children's games and an entertainer.

Entry for adults is £6, £4 for children and family tickets for £18.

Leigh Cricket Club at Beech Walk is holding its show on Sunday with the children's firework display starting at 6.45pm and the main event commencing at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £6 for adults, £4 for children and £15 for family tickets.

A fireworks display and a funfair is also returning to a park in Leigh next weekend.

The Big Bang Firework Spectacular will be held at Sutton Park on Manchester Road (opposite Bedford High School) next Saturday, November 11.

The doors will open at 6pm with the display starting at 8pm.

Tickets are £6 for adults and £4 for pensioners and children.

Family tickets for two adults and two children are £15.

Atherton

Atherton Collieries at Alder House will be lighting their Bonfire at 6.30pm on Sunday with fireworks set off an hour later and a funfair on the car park as well.

Tickets are £4 for adults and £2 for children on the door.

Astley

An old-fashioned family bonfire will be held at Lancashire Mining Museum on Sunday.

There will also be fireworks, a barbecue and a real ale bar to enjoy at the museum on Higher Green Lane in Astley from 4pm to 9pm.

Children are encouraged to make a Guy Fawkes in exchange for a gift.

The bonfire will be lit at 4.30pm with fireworks set off two hours later.

Entry for the event is free but donations to the museum will be gratefully received.

People willing to donate cakes or other treats for the event should drop them off at the museum from 2pm to 4pm.

Golborne

Golborne Sports and Social Club at Stone Cross Lane will host their annual firework display on Saturday with a children's display starting at 6.30pm and the main one kicking off an hour later.

Tickets can be purchased on the gate for £8 for adults, £5 for children and £20 for family tickets.

They may also be purchased at a discounted rate at the club and selected shops in the area subject to availability.

On Sunday, Golborne Parkside Sports and Community Club will hold a display with a Bonfire at their Rivington Avenue base.

Entry will be from 6pm with the Bonfire being lit an hour later and the display starting at 8pm.

Food and refreshments will be on offer at the event.

Entry is £8 for adults, £5 for children and £20 for family tickets on the gate.
