A CARE home with a community hub has officially opened.

Lakeview, which is off Ena Crescent, in Leigh, will provide care for 30 adults with complex needs including patients who have suffered with strokes and brain injuries.

The Exemplar Health Care-operated home will also take care of people with Huntington’s disease, mental ill-health, autism, learning disabilities and early-onset dementia.

There is also a community space called The Hub which will be used by charities, social workers and community groups.

Lakeview home manager Jo Roughley said “We are thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the launch of Lakeview and we’re looking forward to working with our brilliant team, our residents and with the community to make every day better, for everybody.

“We’re really proud to be able to work in this beautiful lakeside setting which will provide a special home from home for our residents.”

Staff and stakeholders attended the home’s launch event last Thursday where the ribbon was cut by Wigan borough mayor Cllr Sue Greensmith.

Ms Roughley also hosted a question and answer session on the day.

Wigan borough mayor Cllr Greensmith, said “I’m overwhelmed by how wonderful and homely Lakeview is, and it’s clear the team have worked incredibly hard to make this a really special place for people to live and work.

"This is a fantastic addition to the community in Leigh and I congratulate Exemplar on the inclusion of The Hub, which will be a great free resource."
