A FESTIVAL designed to bring the community together and boost the appeal of Lilford Park is coming back for the fifth time this weekend.

Launched in 2017, volunteers have worked tirelessly to bring 'Rock n Stroll' to Leigh as a free festival full of live music and entertainment for all the family.

Following a two-year hiatus during the pandemic, the festival is back in Lilford Park for the fifth time on Saturday, July 22.

David DuBois, co-organiser of 'Rock n Stroll', said: "We launched the festival back in 2017 as a way to make something happen in Lilford that is bigger and better than has ever gone before.

"We've done it on a shoestring budget but we always aim to keep it a free festival as it's all about bringing the community together, and it's continued to grow year on year.

"Rain or shine, people come out for the festival, and they absolutely love it. We've had such great feedback over the years, and we plan to keep moving forward and expand."

With kids' activities, artisan markets, and food and drink stalls on offer at Lilford Park, there will be a full day's schedule of live music at the park's main stage.

Hosting sets from bands such as The Dropouts, Shackites, and the Rock Hoppers, Manchester band Moon Candy will headline the festival into the night.

With the potential of Leigh Leopards getting to their first Challenge Cup final for 50 years on Saturday, there are hopes that a celebratory and electric atmosphere will be formed at Lilford Park.

'Rock n Stroll' takes place from 11am to 10:30pm at Lilford Park on Saturday, July 22.
