HERE is a wonderful picture showing a street scene in Leigh from 1950.

The photohraph, which we have dug out from the local archives, shows King Street, Leigh, in June 1950 at 11am.

The picture depicts the Spinning Jenny tile panel on a building on the corner of Spinning Jenny Street.

The building was demolished during a redevelopment of Leigh Town Centre. The tile panel is now displayed inside Leigh Town Hall.

The image also shows the Eagle and Child public house, a church and overhead tram wires, while a man on his bike, a man walking his dog, and a young boy can be seen.
