CANDIDATES have been announced for the Local Elections across the Wigan borough next month.

One out of three seats in each of the borough’s 25 wards are being contested on Thursday, May 2.

Last year, the 'all out' elections across the borough saw 75 seats up for grabs across the council, which saw a continued dominance for Labour as the party gained three councillors to make up 64 seats.

The Conservatives lost five seats to make up two seats on the council, the Independent Network kept four seats, while five independent councillors made up the rest of the council.
