A FIVE-mile midnight fundraising walk for Wigan and Leigh Hospice is set to go ahead on June 14.

The new event, aims to raise money for the hospice and also gives those a chance to celebrate the life of a loved one.

It will kick off from the Wigan Warriors Fan Zone, Robin Park Arena at 9pm, with the walk beginning at 10pm after a quick warm up and will continue until 1am the next day (June 15).

Families are welcome to take part, with dressing up, especially in the colour purple encouraged.

A spokesperson for Wigan and Leigh Hospice, said: “However you will be taking part, we’re here to support you every step of the way.”

The route, which will travel through Wigan, will be fully signposted, with refreshments and toilet facilities available for those participating.

Those taking part can also be sponsored as a group or individually and are asked to create a fundraising page on JustGiving for any donations.

Registration costs £20, with free t-shirts available for all those entering - those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and dogs are unable to participate.
