NEW Atherton LR boss Brad Wright has described his quick introduction to football management as more a "learning cliff" than a learning curve.

Wright assumed charge of Rovers for the first time on Tuesday night against free-scoring Cammell Laird).

The former reserve team boss took over from Mike Lester and Darren Ford on a caretaker basis at Crilly Park, and knows he will have his work cut out at the cash-strapped club if he wants the job full time.

He said: "I'm working on the basis that we are building for next season.

"Without tempting fate, it is going to take a massive effort from the bottom three to catch us, so we should have enough points in the bag.

"The pressure at this stage of the season is on the top sides like Cammell Laird, so we might be able to use that to our advantage.

"I have talked to the players, and they have all agreed to stay until the end of the season. The response I have had from them and the board since I agreed to take on the job has been magnificent."

Wright has drafted in Steve Brannagan and Paul Colgan to work alongside him at Rovers, and is also looking to tap Conference North outfit Leigh RMI for new recruits.

He said: "It's a link that is definitely worth having for us. We are looking to bring a couple of lads in on loan."
