AN Astley pensioner was pleasantly surprised when a leaflet announcing new Sunday train services popped through her letterbox.
The new 12 month trial of services from Wigan Wallgate to Manchester Victoria stops at Hindley, Daisy Hill, Hag Fold and Atherton with a train every hour in both directions.
This creates new travel opportunities for those inclined to use them.
There’s just one problem. There’s a dearth of bus services to connect would be travellers with the trains.
A welcome move for those with cars to get to the station, but what about those without?
