LEIGH Centurions have confirmed they have got their man!

Liam Kay has finally been revealed as a Centurions player.

The 22-year-old has signed a two-year contract to become part of the club’s first team and already the former Wakefield and Doncaster man is being tipped to become a fans’ favourite.

“He’s come from Super League. We’ve beaten every top Championship club to his signature and we worked very hard to do that,” Centurions head coach Paul Rowley explained.

“It’s only just been agreed although he has been here on understanding for a couple of weeks.

“He can play anywhere. He is fast and exciting and I’m sure he’s going to be a fans’ favourite. He’s also a good lad that fits in well with our group.”

Rowley added: “I think he’s got determination, he’s genuine and is the type of player that will endear himself to the Leigh public. Everyone says about effort and pride and he’s got plenty of that!”

Last term Kay stepped up to the Wildcats first team and ended the season with a match-winning hat-trick in a close derby success over Castleford.

He also earned a nomination for Championship Young Player of the Year after appearing 21 times for Doncaster, whom he helped achieve a play-offs spot in their first season back in the Championiship.
