TEN primary schools from Atherton and Tyldesley took part in a girls' football festival at Fred Longworth High School.
St George's Central, Sacred Heart, Hindsford, St Richard's, St Philip's, Parklee, Meadowbank, St Michael's, Chowbent and St Ambrose Barlow all brought teams of girls to take part in the event organised by ATSA.
The schools were divided into two groups with the top teams meeting in the final.
In group two, St. Ambrose Barlow progressed to the final after winning all four of their matches. Group one was to be decided in a winner takes all penalty shoot out, as both Meadowbank and St Richard's finished with identical records.
A save by the Meadowbank goalkeeper from the final St Richard's penalty meant that Meadowbank needed to score their final kick to make the final.
Their taker confidently slotted the ball home to set up the final match against St Ambrose Barlow.
The final match was an even affair until St Ambrose Barlow broke the deadlock and soon extended their advantage to hold on and claim a 2-0 victory.
