LEIGH Centurions can confirm that their home Kingstone Press Championship fixture against Featherstone Rovers has been re-arranged from its original date of Sunday August 10 to Friday August 8 (8pm).
This is due to Leigh Sports Village being awarded the prestige of staging one of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup semi-finals.
Leigh Centurions Chairman Mike Norris said: “Everyone at Leigh Centurions is delighted that our partners at the LSV have been awarded the second Tetley’s Challenge Cup semi-final between Widnes Vikings and Castleford Tigers on Sunday 10th August.
“We are immensely proud of our home and feel that yet another big event taking place in the Leigh area can only be good for the development of Rugby League at all levels.
“To support our partners we have agreed that we will play our home game with Featherstone Rovers the previous Friday, 8th August, with an 8pm kick-off.
“We intend to make a spectacle of what is probably our biggest game of the season and hopefully will get a suitably balmy August evening for us all to enjoy this great fixture.”
