Haydock Warriors 10 Leigh East u15 26

EAST under 15s travelled up the East Lancs to play in a double-header match that consisted of a league game and a Lancashire Cup round one game rolled into one and the visitors came away with the victory.

East, who are still unbeaten in the league, extended the gap at the top of the table with tries from Brad Whelan, two, Dec Almond, Jack Kirkpatrick and Connor Wilcock with Whelan adding three goals.

This week they play Chorley Panthers in the second round of the Lancashire Cup.

Newton Storm 48 Leigh East u14 0

AFTER a great win against Waterhead last Sunday, the 14s were looking for another scalp this week in the shape of Newton who were held four apiece by Waterhead a couple of weeks ago.

East started the game with plenty of enthusiasm but missing four players soon took its toll on the boys.

Newton raced into an 18-0 half time lead to further extend it after the break as East's defence melted away in the heat.

Leigh East u13 0 Blackbrook 72

THE under 13s faced recent NWC Cup winners and Premier Division leaders Blackbrook Royals in the first round of the Lancs Cup.

The game was a one-sided affair with Blackbrook keeping East scoreless, the lads tried hard notably Niall Seddon, Callum Hargreaves and Kieran Bellamy.

DESPITE a spirited performance East fell short to a well-drilled Pats side.

Overall a good team performance with tries from Sam Penkywicz and Jordan Fishwick and conversions from Taylor Pemberton and Jordan Fishwick.

Leigh East u10 16 Blackbrook 34

LEIGH East started off strongly with the girls showing the boys how to play.

East went into the second half 24-6 down.

Some good running and sloppy defence from East let Blackbrook pull away in the second half.

One bright note for East was player-of-the-match Joshua Richardson.

THE under nines took on Blackbrook and came up just short although the more fluent rugby was played by the home side.

Improvement was evident from last week in defence but East eventually lost by one try, Jack Edge put in a top performance along with James Molyneaux and man-of-the-match Nathan Southern.

Leigh East u8 2 Latchford Albion 8

EAST under eights lost to a quicker and more organised Latchford side.

A try from parents' player-of-the-match Josh Hopkins and two, including a storming run from the last play of the game, for Cai O'Brien.

Best tackle goes to Jacob Hardy for a number of good tackles and best run to Ryan Kelleher.

East sevens and eights also did a three-mile sponsored walk around Pennington Flash to raise money for extra kit and training equipment due to growing numbers.

Leigh East u7 7 Orrell St James 4

EAST put on an entertaining display which saw a hard-fought game end in a victory.

Each week every player is upping their game.

They are now working hard in attack to find space and therefore turning their runs into tries.

Tries from Brody Allred, two, Luke Thorpe, two, Finn Penkywicz, Bobbi Allred and Fynn Jackson topped off his player of the match with a try.
